We have been returning to the original Cash Truck time and time again since it was first released, and sometimes we even play the Xmas version. Cash Truck 2 is a highly anticipated follow-up to Quickspin’s smash hit, and it’s basically a bigger and bolder version of the same game. Some may be disappointed that nothing too revolutionary has been included, but they can always do that later anyway. The visuals are similar, and the biggest change is found in the desert city backdrop.
The base game was a bit too barebones in the first game for our taste, and this has now been amended by the inclusion of 2 special modifier symbols. You get the tumble wins unblocking position action as usual, and the main attraction is, of course, the Truck Raider Bonus. It comes with a few brand new special symbols this time, and the35,000x potentialis more solid as well. Cash Truck 2 is a must try for both fans and new players, and we certainly hope this is not the last installment in this series.
The premium symbols (or medium and high pay symbols as they are called) pay between 0.6 and 3 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins. You can also landWild symbolsthat step in for all pay symbols to help complete and/or improve wins.
Winning symbols are removed via theTumble mechanic, and the gaps are filled by new and/or existing symbols dropping down from above. This process repeats as long as you keep winning, and each tumble win unlocks 3-5 random positions in the upper part of the grid.
Also thebase gamecomes with afew modifier symbolsthis time, and TheCompressorremoves all symbols except scatters and wilds, which triggers the tumble mechanic. The compressor itself, as well as surrounding symbols, are removed when you land a non-winning tumble, and locked positions are unlocked if they are adjacent to the compressor.
In addition, you can land TheCloner symbol, and it will randomly choose between 4 and 8 symbols in view. All selected symbols will be transformed into one of the symbols on reel 1, and the Cloner itself also turns into the selected symbol. This may lead to a larger payout.
TheTruck Raider Bonus Roundtriggers when you land3 bonus scattersanywhere in view on the unlocked part of the grid. You get+1 extra Expander symbolguaranteed per additional triggering scatter above the minimum of 3, and the bonus round starts you off with 3 spins in the tally. Each non-blank symbol that appears resets the spin tally to 3 each time.
You will land cash symbols with random values, as well as special symbols, during the feature, and they remain sticky for the duration of the bonus round. However, they can be removed by otherspecial symbols, as you will see in the overview below:
TheSuper Bonus Roundtriggers if at least 1 of the triggering scatters is aSuper Bonus Symbol. The feature plays out exactly like the regular bonus round, but the triggering super bonus symbol turns into either a Super Grabber, Super Booster, or Doubler for the duration of the feature.
TheBonus Buy menuis available in some jurisdictions, but not in the UK for sure. It comes with 2 options, and eligible players can pay 85x the stake for at least 3 triggering scatters on the spin that follows. Alternatively, you can pay250x your staketo get at least 2 regular scatters, as well as 1 bonus scatter. This awards the Super version of the bonus round, and the features come with an RTP of 96.6 and 96.74 %, respectively.
You get a decent taste of the base game, before we purchase and trigger the Super Bonus Round at 0.41 into the 5:23-minute highlights video. We got the minimum of 3 triggering scatters (including the super scatter), and you can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
We have been waiting for this follow-up for a while, while also enjoying the Xmas version as a sort of guilty pleasure outside of the Holidays season. Quickspin delivers the goods, no doubt, but we had our hopes up for even more upgrades and tweaks. The desert mountains have been replaced by a dystopian city looming in the backdrop, and you now get a few base game modifier symbols, which is appreciated. We still miss some kind of reward for unlocking all positions though, or perhaps a progressive unblocking multiplier of some kind.
Of course, you get special symbols in spades in the Truck Raider Bonus Round, and 2 brand new special symbols have been thrown into the mix for good measure. They are all capable of making a dent, and not least the persistent ones. The super bonus round can be triggered organically, which is appreciated (not least by UK players), and the35,000x potentialis significantly bumped up. It comes with a 1 in 84,012,318 spins hit rate, which isn’t too shabby all things considered, and Cash Truck 2 is overall a solid follow-up that should please both fans and newcomers alike.
