Blue Fortune

Blue Fortune

It’s understandable that Quickspin wants to give the concept from their old hit game,Northern Sky, another merry-go-round. The aftermath of an epic pirate sea battle ended on the bottom of the sea for at least one ship, and Blue Fortune is all about recovering the lost treasures in the murky waters where the giant octopus lurks.
It’s a very different theme from the spectacular sights offered in the original game in other words, but the streak respins feature is still enough to make the base game somewhat exciting. Captain Roger is the top-payer in this game, followed by 3 buccaneer character symbols that’s worth significantly less. Since you only get premium symbols in the bonus round, you’re far more likely to get into lengthy and high-value respin sequences there, than in the base game.
Whenever you land a winning combo, both in the base game and during the bonus round, tentacles wrap around the winning symbols to hold them in place. The remaining symbols disappear in a cloud of black smoke (or perhaps it’s ink from the octopus), and a new batch of symbols land.
If you improve upon thesticky winning combination, the improving symbol(s) also lock in place. This streak respins feature goes on as long as you keep adding to the triggering winning combo, or until you completely fill the screen with winning symbols. Payouts are summed up per respin, and not only at the end, and this means that you get repeat wins that progressively improve.
You need3 scattersto appear in a single spin/respin sequence to trigger the Bonus Round. The scatters are cleared per respin, but they are collected in a meter on the left-hand side. You win10 free spinsthis way, and only high value character symbols will land during the feature. Other than that, it plays out the same as the base game. This means that each win triggers the streak respins feature, awarding plenty of extra spins nested within the original 10 free spins.
Our 5-minute highlights video starts out with a lengthy winning streak with a low-paying skull symbol. We have some smaller wins here and there after that, and the bonus round is triggered around the 4-minute mark. The feature takes you from the shipwreck at the bottom, to the aftermath of a sea battle above waters, and you can see how it all played out in the video below.
Northern Sky stood out because of its unique visual presentation, and while the visuals in Blue Fortune also stick out in a way, they are not as pleasing to the eye. They certainly get the job done though, and we like the way symbols go poof in a cloud of black smoke/ink on each respin. Speaking of, you will get plenty of streak respins all the time, but the top value Roger symbol is seldom involved in any lengthy shenanigans during base game play.
Still, the hold & respin feature creates the opportunity for some decent thrill rides here and there, while you wait to trigger the bonus round. With all low value skulls removed from the reels, things can get interesting to the tune of3,111xyour stake. However, even a full screen of Roger is only worth 360x your stake. It can add up due to the repeated wins though, but this game, like the original, will mostly appeal to casual punters.
Pros
Cons
Northern Sky- is the original feast for the eyes from Quickspin, and it comes with the exact same features and math model as the game at hand. It’s all up to what theme you prefer in other words, and the max win is still 3,111x your stake.
Rise of the Mountain King- is a NextGen release that might interest you if you’re into plenty of respin action. Landing wilds prolong the respins feature, and the wilds apply multipliers up to 100x to wins in the bonus round. This can lead to payouts up to 50,000x your stake.
Adventures Of Doubloon Island- is part of Microgaming’s HyperHold series, and it comes with a nicely done pirate theme. Only premium symbols land during the bonus round, and the streak respins feature comes with jackpots up to 2,000x your stake.
