Midas Coins

Midas Coins

The greek legend about King Midas’ golden touch is a textbook example of how what seems like a gift at first, can soon turn into a nightmarish curse. He even turned his own daughter into a solid gold statue by embracing her, and she/it serves as the wild symbol in this game. Midas Coins is quite literally ‘the name of the game’, as it’s all about stacking those cash coins.
You can see this release as an ancient Greece upgraded version ofFishin’ Frenzy, as you will now enjoy cash coin collection also in the base game. The math model is stronger too, offering total payoutsup to 5,000xfrom the coin stack collect bonus round. It gets the job done visually too, but the concept could perhaps have been exploited a bit further in that department.
Midas’ daughter, Marigold, who, as mentioned, suffered the unfortunate fate of being turned to gold by her father’s touch, is thewild symbolin this game. The wild is worth the same as the highest value necklace, awarding 32x your stake for 5 on a payline. The wild also steps in for all regular symbols, like wilds usually do.
Midas coinsland with values between1x and 500x, and they land on reels 1 to 4 only. King Midas himself is the collector symbol, and you need him on reel 5 to collect any cash coins present on the 4 other reels.
TheSatyr scattercan land on reels 1, 3 and 5 only, and you need 3 on the same spin to trigger the All IsGolden Bonus Roundwith12 free spins. All cash coin symbols that land are now collected in a pile on the left-hand side. The pile starts out with a 3x your stake value, and the current value of the pile is awarded every time you land the King Midas collector symbol on reel 5.
You get1, 2 or 5 extra free spinswhen you land1, 2 or 3 Satyr scattersduring the feature. Impatient non-UK players can simplybuy the bonus roundat any time, and this will set you back 50x your stake.
We had some smaller wins in the base game, but nothing too exciting happened until we caved and purchased the bonus round. This happens at 1:30 into the 3-minute highlights video. If you’re curious as to how many Midas coins we stacked, simply hit the play button and see for yourself how we fared.
Quickspin has definitely improved upon the classic Fishin’ Frenzy cash collecting feature in this game, and fans of the concept should rejoice. Being able to collect cash coins also in the base game makes a big difference, as now the cash symbols are not only there blocking regular wins. Visually, it’s perhaps not the best work we’ve seen from this developer, but the soundtrack is pretty good.
Watching the stack of cash coins grow ever-larger in the bonus round is a visually pleasing tease, and it certainly adds tension to the feature as the music also intensifies. This way non-collected coins are never wasted, and when Midas lands for repeated coin stack wins it feels pretty darn good. The idyllic fishing trip nostalgia is not present in this game though, but we’re crossing our fingers for a fishing reskin and/or clone with similar features and stats.

Big Bass Bonanza- is Reel Kingdom’s take on the Fishin’ Frenzy concept. Here, you’ll collect cash fish via the fisherman wild as well, but now all wilds are collected in a multiplier meter that also awards extra spins. This can lead to payouts up to 2,100x your stake.
Midas Golden Touch- is Thunderkick’s take on the famous greek legend. You can look forward to sticky winning symbols respins in the bonus round, and multiplier wilds might land you payouts up to 10,100x your stake.
