Dinosaur Rage

Quickspin’s dark-haired explorer apparently needed some time to recuperate after her last adventure, Ark Of Mystery, and she – and you – are in for a far more volatile expedition in this follow-up title called Dinosaur Rage. The seed of this game was planted with another Quickspin game however, namely Tiger’s Glory. This is where thePay Anywhere enginewas first introduced, and it was all about enraged tigers.
Bjarne Grönnevik, Producer:”We started by looking at ‘Tiger’s Glory’, to see how we could use the Pay Anywhere feature to create an interesting dynamic. After working on the game design for some time, we arrived at a model that worked really well.
When it came to the theme, it turned out that one of our artists is obsessed with reading about and drawing dinosaurs. I guess that spilled over to the moodboards because they looked great!
As the dinosaurs become ‘Enraged’, they stand on their back legs, raise their armour plates, and get bigger and more aggressive. Just imagine that a T-Rex would catch you trying to steal her eggs and you get the idea!”
Dinosaur Rage is far from being a reskin job however, and the game greatly expands upon the enraged animals concept, not to say completely transforms it. Visually, the reels are set in an open-world prehistoric environment it would be fun to explore further, and all the expanded symbols come with nice animations. The base game gives you a teasing taste of the havoc that can be unleashed in the all-important bonus round, and overall this is a very solid release in Quickspin’s “maximum exposure” series.
Whenever you land the1x4 Anna The Explorersymbol fully in view, you trigger thePay Anywherefeature during base game play. This means that you win by landing enough matching symbols anywhere on a payline. In other words, they don’t need to line up and be adjacent to create a win. A randomly triggered nudge will sometimes help move Anna fully into view, and thus trigger the Pay Anywhere feature.
This feature also takes center stage during the Dinosaur Rage! Bonus Round. You need3+ Dinosaur eggscatters anywhere in sight to trigger the bonus round. You get10, 15 or 25 free spinswhen you land 3, 4 or 5 scatters, respectively. You also get1, 2 or 3 Symbol Upgrades, depending on the number of scatters you trigger the bonus round with.
The Symbol Upgrade feature “enrages”1, 2 or 3 randomly selected dinosaur symbols, which means they turn into 1×4 expanded symbols that can trigger thePay Anywherefeature. You can land scatters to win extra spins as described above, and this will also enrage new dinosaurs. If you manage to enrage all 4 of them, any further retrigger upgrades will increase a multiplier with +1 per upgrade.
Non-UK players don’t have to wait for the bonus round to trigger organically, as the game comes with aBonus Buy feature. You can pay75xor150xyour stake, and this gives you 3 or 4 scatters on the next spin, respectively. The RTP is increased to either96.75 % or 96.95 %, and everything else is the same as it would be if you triggered the feature from the base game.
We grinded along in the base game for a while, but caved and bought the bonus round after a few smaller wins. This happens around 0:47 into the 4-minute highlights video you can check out below, and we went with the 4 scatters option. How we fared however, we’ll not spoil for you up front, but you can simply hit the play button to see for yourself.
Quickspin has upped their game lately, releasing more volatile and potent titles in their “extreme exposure” series. Dinosaur Rage is also the second installment in the Anna The Explorer series, and, quite suitingly, it’s much more of a beast than the previous Ark of Mystery. You can now win up to17,794xcompared to 6,500x, and the volatility is brutally high instead of the casual medium offered in her first adventure.
The Pay Anywhere engine provides a thrill here and there during base game play, but you need the bonus round to do serious damage here. Symbol values are not very high, so it’s crucial to get the free spins multiplier going by getting all 4 dinosaurs enraged as soon as possible. Of course, this will many times not happen, hence the volatility, but the feeling you get when everything falls into place early on is hard to beat.
Pros
Cons
Ark Of Mystery- is Anna the Explorer’s debut adventure from Quickspin, and as so many others, she started her career with a treasure hunt to ancient egypt. Expanding wilds trigger the Wild Ark Respins feature, and reel 5 offer multiplier symbols for boosts up to 22x. This can all lead to payouts up to 6,509x your stake.
Tiger’s Glory- is the less known predecessor game to Dinosaur Rage, and perhaps even more so than Ark of Mystery. This is where Quickspin first introduced the Pay Anywhere engine, and the big highlight is the Enraged Tiger bonus round. Enraged tiger symbols battle gladiators to become sticky, and this can lead to payouts up to 13,830x your stake.
Jurassic World- is definitely a game to check out if you’re hungry for more dinosaur action. Microgaming’s Universal Pictures collaboration comes with 3 different bonus rounds, and all the main characters and dinosaurs from the movie are found on the reels. With medium variance, the 14,000x potential looks pretty impressive.
